Working Principle
The Waterproof Ultrasonic Obstacle Sensor operates using the time-of-flight principle. When triggered, the sensor transmits a burst of ultrasonic sound waves, typically at a frequency of approximately 40 kHz, through its waterproof transducer.
When these sound waves strike an object, they are reflected back toward the sensor as an echo. The sensor measures the time taken for the echo to return and calculates the distance using the known speed of sound in air.
Since the measurement is completely non-contact, the sensor experiences no physical wear and can accurately detect solid objects regardless of color, transparency, or ambient lighting conditions. The waterproof transducer allows reliable operation even in damp or dusty environments.
