The TEC1-12706 Peltier Module is a compact solid-state thermoelectric cooling device that works based on the Peltier Effect, where heat is transferred from one side of the module to the other when a direct current (DC) is applied. As electricity flows through the module, one surface becomes cold by absorbing heat, while the opposite surface becomes hot by releasing that heat. Unlike conventional cooling systems, the TEC1-12706 does not use compressors, refrigerants, or any moving parts, making it silent, lightweight, environmentally friendly, and highly reliable. Due to its simple construction and efficient operation, it is widely used in electronic cooling, portable refrigeration, medical equipment, laboratory instruments, and various educational and DIY projects.
The TEC1-12706 operates at a nominal voltage of 12 V DC and can draw a maximum current of approximately 6 A. It consists of 127 thermoelectric semiconductor couples connected electrically in series and thermally in parallel, which is reflected in its model number "12706."
