Working Principle

The RFID Starter Kit operates using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

An RFID system consists of two main components:

  • RFID Reader (Transceiver)

  • RFID Tag or Card (Transponder)

When an RFID card or key tag is brought close to the RFID reader, the reader generates a radio frequency electromagnetic field. The passive RFID tag does not require its own battery; instead, it receives energy from the electromagnetic field generated by the reader.

After receiving sufficient power, the RFID tag transmits its unique identification number (UID) back to the reader using radio waves. The reader decodes this information and sends it to the connected microcontroller through the SPI communication interface.

The microcontroller then compares the received UID with stored authorized IDs and performs the required action, such as unlocking a door, marking attendance, activating a relay, logging user information, or displaying data on an LCD screen.

This wireless communication process takes only a fraction of a second, providing fast, secure, and reliable identification without physical contact.
