The LDR Sensor Module is a simple and effective light-sensing device designed to detect ambient light intensity. It operates using a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), whose resistance changes according to the amount of light falling on its surface. As light intensity increases, the resistance decreases, allowing the module to sense variations in lighting conditions accurately. The module provides a digital output and, in some variants, an analog output, making it easy to interface with microcontrollers such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, ESP8266, PIC, AVR, and STM32. WORKING PRINCIPLE
The LDR on the module reacts to changes in ambient light by varying its resistance. This change in resistance alters the voltage level within the circuit, which is processed by an onboard comparator. When the light level crosses a preset threshold, the module generates a digital HIGH or LOW output. An onboard potentiometer allows adjustment of sensitivity, enabling precise control over the light detection threshold. Some module versions also provide an analog output that represents the light intensity level continuously.
