It combines a capacitive humidity sensing element, a high-accuracy NTC temperature sensor, and an integrated microcontroller with factory calibration to provide stable, reliable, and ready-to-use digital output. Compared to the DHT11, the DHT22 offers a wider measurement range, higher accuracy, and improved long-term stability, making it suitable for demanding environmental monitoring applications.
The sensor communicates through a single-wire digital interface, allowing easy integration with a wide range of microcontrollers and embedded platforms. The onboard microcontroller performs signal processing and calibration internally, eliminating the need for additional analog circuitry or external signal conditioning. This simplifies system design while ensuring consistent and accurate temperature and humidity measurements.
Operating from a 3.3V to 6V DC power supply, the DHT22 (AM2302) measures temperatures from −40°C to +80°C with a typical accuracy of ±0.5°C, and relative humidity from 0% to 100% RH with a typical accuracy of ±2% to ±5% RH. The sensor provides updated measurements approximately once every 2 seconds, making it ideal for continuous environmental monitoring applications.
