Arduino CNC Shield

The Arduino CNC Shield is a versatile expansion board designed to simplify the control of CNC machines, laser engravers, 3D printers, and robotic motion systems using an Arduino UNO R3 or compatible development board. It provides a convenient platform for connecting stepper motor drivers, limit switches, spindle or laser control, and other motion-control components, making it an ideal solution for CNC automation and DIY machine projects.

The shield plugs directly onto the Arduino UNO R3, providing dedicated sockets for up to four stepper motor driver modules (A4988, DRV8825, or compatible). It supports control of X, Y, Z, and A axes, allowing users to build multi-axis motion systems with ease. The onboard pin layout simplifies wiring and provides clearly labelled connectors for motor outputs, end-stop switches, spindle control, coolant control, and power input.

Designed for compatibility with the popular GRBL firmware, the Arduino CNC Shield enables precise stepper motor control for CNC routing, milling, engraving, and laser cutting applications. Microstepping configuration pins allow users to adjust motor resolution by configuring the installed driver modules according to project requirements.

The shield accepts an external 12V–36V DC motor power supply (depending on the installed stepper motor drivers) while the Arduino handles motion control and communication. Built with durable PCB construction and high-quality connectors, it ensures reliable operation and easy integration into professional and hobby CNC systems.

The Arduino CNC Shield is fully compatible with Arduino UNO R3, A4988 Stepper Motor Drivers, DRV8825 Stepper Motor Drivers, NEMA 17/NEMA 23 stepper motors (with suitable drivers), GRBL firmware, and various CNC software platforms. It is widely used in CNC routers, laser engravers, 3D printers, PCB milling machines, robotic automation, educational projects, industrial prototypes, and DIY electronics.
