The ADXL345 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Module is a compact, high-performance, and ultra-low-power motion sensing module designed to accurately measure acceleration, tilt, orientation, vibration, and movement along the X, Y, and Z axes. Based on the Analog Devices ADXL345 MEMS accelerometer IC, the module delivers precise digital acceleration data through I²C or SPI communication interfaces, making it ideal for embedded systems and motion-sensitive applications.
The ADXL345 provides high-resolution acceleration measurement with selectable ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g, allowing it to detect both subtle movements and rapid acceleration. Working Principle
The ADXL345 uses Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology to detect acceleration along three perpendicular axes (X, Y, and Z). Inside the sensor, microscopic movable structures respond to changes in acceleration by shifting their position.
These tiny mechanical movements cause changes in capacitance, which are measured by the integrated signal processing circuitry. The sensor converts these measurements into high-resolution digital acceleration values.
The measured acceleration includes both static acceleration, such as gravity, and dynamic acceleration caused by movement, vibration, shock, or impact. By continuously monitoring acceleration on all three axes, the module can determine object orientation, tilt angle, motion, free-fall events, and vibration.
The processed digital data is transmitted to the microcontroller through either the I²C or SPI communication interface for real-time analysis and control.
