4 Channel 5V Relay Module with Optocoupler
The 4 Channel 5V Relay Module with Optocoupler is an electronic switching module designed to allow low-voltage microcontrollers and development boards to safely control high-voltage AC or DC electrical devices. Equipped with four independent electromechanical relays, this module operates on a 5V DC supply and can switch multiple electrical loads simultaneously. It is widely used with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, ESP8266, PIC, AVR, STM32, and other microcontroller platforms for home automation, industrial control, robotics, IoT systems, and DIY electronics projects.
Each relay channel is controlled independently through a digital input pin, allowing the module to switch devices such as lights, fans, motors, pumps, solenoid valves, power outlets, and other electrical appliances. The integrated optocouplers (optical isolators) provide electrical isolation between the control circuit and the relay switching circuit, helping protect sensitive microcontrollers from voltage spikes, electrical noise, and interference generated by inductive loads.
The module features Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), and Common (COM) terminals for each relay, offering flexibility for different switching applications. LED indicators on each channel display the relay status, making it easy to monitor operation during testing and deployment.

Working Principle
When a microcontroller sends a control signal to one of the input pins, the corresponding optocoupler activates while electrically isolating the control side from the relay side. The optocoupler then drives a transistor, which energizes the relay coil. Once energized, the relay changes the position of its internal contacts, connecting either the Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) terminal to the Common (COM) terminal. This allows the module to safely switch external AC or DC electrical loads without exposing the microcontroller to high voltages.
