TURBIDITY SENSOR MODULE
The Turbidity Sensor Module is an electronic device designed to measure the cloudiness or haziness of liquids, which is caused by suspended particles such as silt, clay, organic matter, or microorganisms. Turbidity is an essential water quality parameter, commonly expressed in NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units), and is widely monitored in environmental, industrial, and educational applications.
The sensor operates using an optical infrared (IR) method. An IR LED emits light through the liquid sample, and particles within the liquid scatter the light. A photodiode or phototransistor detects the scattered or transmitted light, converting it into an analog or digital signal proportional to the turbidity level. The module is designed for fast response and accurate measurement, with a waterproof sensor probe suitable for continuous immersion in liquids.
Operating at 3.3–5 V DC, the sensor can interface with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi (via ADC), and PLC systems, providing easy integration into automated monitoring systems or DIY projects. Its compact design and simple interfacing make it ideal for environmental monitoring, drinking water quality testing, wastewater management, aquaculture, industrial water process monitoring, laboratory experiments, and educational STEM projects.
This turbidity sensor provides a reliable and practical solution for real-time monitoring and analysis of water clarity, helping to ensure safe, clean, and well-regulated liquid environments.
