EYE BLINK SENSOR MODULE

The Eye Blink Sensor Module is an infrared (IR)-based electronic sensor designed to detect eye blinking activity. It is widely used in assistive technology, fatigue and drowsiness detection systems, human–machine interfaces, biomedical research, and educational electronics projects.

The module consists of an IR transmitter and IR receiver. The transmitter emits infrared light toward the eye, and the receiver detects the amount of IR light reflected back. When the eye is open, a certain reflection pattern is detected; when the eye blinks or closes, the reflected IR signal changes. The module processes this change and provides an electrical output indicating a blink event. Depending on the model, the output can be digital (HIGH/LOW) or analog for variable detection. Sensitivity can often be adjusted via an onboard potentiometer to suit different users or lighting conditions.

Operating at 3.3–5 V DC, the Eye Blink Sensor Module consumes minimal power and delivers fast, reliable detection. It is compatible with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, and PLC systems, making it easy to integrate into a variety of electronic projects.

Applications include assistive devices for physically challenged users, drowsiness and fatigue monitoring, eye-controlled human–machine interfaces, non-diagnostic biomedical research, safety alert systems, and educational STEM projects.
