The Sound Detection Sensor Module is a compact and reliable electronic sensor designed to detect sound levels and acoustic events in the surrounding environment. It uses a high-sensitivity electret condenser microphone to capture sound waves and converts them into electrical signals that can be processed by microcontrollers and embedded systems. The module features an onboard microphone, signal amplifier, voltage comparator, and adjustable sensitivity control. Working Principle
The module uses an electret condenser microphone to capture sound waves from the surrounding environment. The microphone converts these sound waves into small electrical signals, which are amplified by the onboard amplifier circuit.
The amplified signal is then processed by the onboard voltage comparator. If the sound level exceeds the threshold set using the onboard sensitivity adjustment potentiometer, the comparator switches the digital output, indicating that a sound event has been detected.
On modules equipped with an analog output, the amplified signal is also available directly, allowing the connected microcontroller to measure relative sound intensity using its Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC).
The adjustable sensitivity enables the module to detect anything from loud claps to moderate sound levels, depending on the application and environmental conditions.
