Description
The ESP8266 ESP-01 is a low-cost Wi-Fi module based on the ESP8266 System on Chip (SoC) developed by Espressif. It allows microcontrollers, such as Arduino, to connect to the internet and enables a wide range of Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The module comes with a built-in TCP/IP stack and supports multiple Wi-Fi modes for flexible wireless connectivity.
Key Features
The ESP-01 supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi standards and can operate in Station mode, Access Point mode, or both simultaneously (STA + AP). It is powered by a 32-bit Tensilica L106 CPU running at 80 MHz, which can be overclocked up to 160 MHz. The module has on-chip GPIO, PWM, and ADC (limited on ESP-01), enabling simple interfacing with sensors and actuators.
Power & Electrical
The module operates at 3.3V only and has a current consumption of approximately 70–300 mA during active operation, requiring a stable power supply to function reliably.
Applications
The ESP8266 ESP-01 is widely used in IoT projects, wireless sensor networks, smart switches, home automation, and cloud data communication, making it a versatile solution for adding Wi-Fi connectivity to embedded systems.
