TIP122 NPN BIPOLAR POWER TRANSISTOR

The TIP122 is an NPN bipolar power transistor designed for high current and high voltage switching and amplification applications. It belongs to the Darlington transistor family, which means it contains two transistors internally connected to provide very high current gain.

This transistor is commonly used in power control circuits, motor drivers, relay drivers, LED drivers, and amplifier circuits. Because of its high gain, it can control large loads using a small base current from microcontrollers or logic circuits.

The TIP122 can handle a collector current of up to 5A and a collector-emitter voltage of up to 100V. It also provides high DC current gain, typically around 1000, making it suitable for switching heavy loads with minimal input current.

The device is usually packaged in a TO-220 case, which allows it to dissipate heat efficiently and can be attached to a heat sink when used in high power applications.
