470K Ohm Linear Rotary Potentiometer (470KΩ Adjustable Variable Resistor)

The 470K Ohm Linear Rotary Potentiometer (470KΩ Adjustable Variable Resistor) is a premium-quality variable resistor designed to provide smooth, accurate, and reliable manual adjustment of voltage, current, and signal levels in a wide range of electronic circuits. With a maximum resistance of 470K Ohms (470,000Ω) and a linear taper, this potentiometer provides a uniform change in resistance throughout the full rotation of the shaft, making it ideal for applications that require precise and consistent control.

The potentiometer consists of a high-quality resistive track, a durable rotating shaft, and a movable wiper that slides across the resistive element as the shaft is turned. As the wiper moves, it changes the resistance between the terminals or adjusts the output voltage when used as a voltage divider. This allows accurate control of analog signals, sensor inputs, voltage levels, and current flow in electronic circuits.

Manufactured using premium resistive materials and corrosion-resistant metal contacts, the 470K Ohm Linear Rotary Potentiometer offers excellent electrical stability, smooth rotation, low contact noise, and a long mechanical operating life. The strong metal shaft is compatible with standard control knobs, while the threaded bushing allows secure panel mounting for professional installation in control panels, electronic devices, and custom enclosures.

The 470K Ohm Linear Rotary Potentiometer is widely used in Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, STM32, audio equipment, signal processing circuits, industrial automation, robotics, power supplies, embedded systems, laboratory instruments, educational electronics, DIY projects, and electronic repair applications. It is commonly used for analog signal adjustment, voltage division, sensor calibration, reference voltage generation, LED brightness control, motor speed adjustment, and circuit tuning.

Its compact design, standard three-terminal configuration, and dependable performance make it an essential component for engineers, technicians, students, hobbyists, and electronics enthusiasts working with analog and embedded electronic systems.

Working Principle

The 470K Ohm Linear Rotary Potentiometer works by varying resistance through the rotation of its shaft.

Inside the potentiometer, a resistive element is connected between the two outer terminals, while the center terminal is connected to a movable contact known as the wiper. Rotating the shaft moves the wiper along the resistive track, changing the resistance between the center terminal and each outer terminal.

When connected as a voltage divider, the potentiometer provides an adjustable output voltage proportional to the shaft position. When used as a variable resistor (rheostat), it regulates current flow by changing the circuit resistance.

Because it uses a linear taper, the resistance changes evenly across the full range of rotation, making it ideal for precision control, calibration, and adjustment applications.
